General information

When is the parade?

Friday, October 25th, 2024, at 5:45 p.m.

How many entries are in this year’s parade?

We will have 125 entries this year!

What items are prohibited from the parade?

Absolutely no alcoholic beverages or illegal substances, either in your entry or in the form of banners/advertisements/promotions.

How many people can walk in my group?

Class 1 entries can have up to 30 walkers (excluding people on the float) in their group. Class 3 entries can have up to 60 walkers. Class 2 and 5 entries, because of the motorized vehicles, don’t have as much room for as many walkers, so an exact number cannot be given. However, the size of your entry should not exceed 60 feet.

  • 3:00 PM - Staging area opens
  • 5:30 PM - All entries required in staging area
  • 5:45 PM - Parade kickoff
  • ~7:00 PM - Parade ends, Hawkeye Marching Band concert at Iowa/Clinton

When and where do I check my entry in?

Time and location depend on your entry number and class. Please see your individual entry ticket for details.

What items are drivers required to present at check in?

Drivers must present their legal and valid license, and must have the entry number displayed. Additional if a Class 1 parade float: The required fire extinguisher (minimum 2A10B:5 lb),

May we return to the staging area after completing the route? 

No. The staging area streets will reopen as soon as the last entry begins.

What do I do if my vehicle experiences issues?

If possible, pull off the route to allow other entries to continue. If not, please alert the nearest parade personnel and/or officer for assistance.

Can candy or items be thrown?

No! But they may be handed out gently.

May we stop to perform?

No! Entries are not allowed to stop for any reason other than emergencies.

After you finish

What do I do when I finish the route?

Continue forward. Do NOT stop. You will be directed on exactly where to go by official parade personnel.
